An imposing structure in the agro-friendly Solapur district of Maharashtra, the Fratelli winery is the gateway to some of the best Indian wines. The Winery is the first of its kind structure for any Indian wine company which is embellished with state of the art plant and machinery and houses the produce of our vineyards where it is stored and periodically monitored for bringing out the best from our grapes.
The winery is situated in Motewadi, one of the three vineyard sites of the company and has an installed capacity of around 600,000 liters. It is equipped with 58 multi-capacity tanks especially imported from Velo, Italy - a first by any wine company in Asia. The proximity of the winery to the vineyards ensures that once the grapes are harvested, they are processed within an hour in an absolutely fresh condition.
The Winery also boasts of a fully equipped high-tech laboratory for testing our wines at each and every stage of the production process.
With a strong belief that good quality wine is first grown in the vineyards, we have ensured optimum care is taken to tend the soil and ensuring it is ideal for wine grapes cultivation.
Every inch of the 240 acres of virgin land at Akluj was graded to form gentle slopes with ideal lines of elevation before the actual planting began.
The vineyards, currently planted with 12 different grape varieties imported from France, were nurtured and tended to for four long years before the grapes harvested were used to make our very first wines in 2010.
350,000 wine saplings were specially handpicked by Piero Masi and his team; imported from France and Italy and planted in this acreage. The latest irrigation and spraying techniques have been installed and the 'VSP system' of vine training was adopted to ensure perfect growth of the wine saplings. Yields per acre are restricted to half the industry average, to ensure that only the best grapes are harvested and the quality of wine held sacrosanct.
All climatic and soil conditions especially health of the vines from first day until now are continuously monitored and a constant feed of information transferred to the offices in Tavarnelle near Florence and Delhi; to ensure that the grapes are harvested in perfect conditions and to the complete satisfaction of our winemaker.
